WordPress 2.7 arrival

By Lewis Wolfe, Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

With the imminent arrival of WordPress 2.7, there will be significant changes, most particularly to the way a theme brings comments to the page.

As it seems at present, all themes produced prior to WP 2.7 will be rendered obsolete - in the sense of not producing the full 2.7 functionality… whether you may want this, another matter…

We will be working through the back catalogue, and bringing all themes to WP2.7 capability. By the nature of things, this isn’t going to be happening overnight…

WordPress Theme repository

Oh well, WordPress > extend > themes seems to have ground to a halt, temporary or otherwise, fairly early on in its bright new career - which is a pity, if this is going to be the advertised “good centralized place” - a job that weblogtoolscollection does rather well on a much more ad hoc basis.

Of course, I wouldn’t want the job of verifying that lot of submissions, paid or unpaid

WordPress Free Theme - Gotham, New York

By Lewis Wolfe, Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

gotham.pngGotham, not to be confused with Gothamist, has New York as its subject. Never been there, I’m told it’s ok. It’s a 3 column theme, with a fixed width widget-enabled right-hand sidebar.

User comments are separated from pingbacks and trackbacks - they’re also gravatar-enabled and will work whether you’re using WP2.5 or lower (the WP gravatar plugin is not required). Continue reading »
