As will probably be noticed, WordPress 2.2.1 is out - again a required update.
Of some importance is theĀ phpmailer security fix, which is discussed in more detail here and considered to affect “PHPMailer 1.73, when configured to use sendmail”.
PHPMailer has certainly been a great app, but maybe starting to show its age a little in terms of continuous development…
Chess series - comes and will come in a variety of colours - nice and clean in mainly Trebuchet - with customisable header and favicons in the form of chess piece graphics, the page doesn’t fit terribly well with a 800 x 600 viewport. (Creative Commons licence)
And Deep Blue has arrived - kinda inevitable following the Deep Red theme - the same striking layout with a well thought-out right sidebar, based on the original XHTML template version.
SEO_WordPress Plugin is interesting in the context of Google’s increased (over the last 2-3 years anyway) use of their supplemental index. The plugin is another method for reducing crawled duplicate content - however, with the use of a robots.txt as well standard noindex… time will tell.
Triplex has been updated - see new post
Stockholm - looks well put-together, nice and simple and will do the job -
This theme does not have sidebar.php. The left sidebar can be edited in header.php The right sidebar is in index.php
This can be tricky when starting out - best if 3-column themes are source-ordered so that both sidebars can go in a sidebar.php - makes keeping track of widgets much easier.
WP-Subdued is a port of a freecsstemplates.org XHTML template, very 2.0 and worth a look.
Countryside is finished and released - all in soft grays, except for the picture banner, which will stand out strongly on the page.
It’s a fixed-width theme, with 2 column with right sidebar, enabled for widgets and compatible with WP 2 upwards. Tested on Firefox 1.5, 2.0, Internet Explorer 6 and Opera 9.

ACMS (not a blog) is a theme that turns WordPress into a Content Management System.
Blog posts become news items
Blog pages become CMS pages
The front page can be configured with static HTML content.
Use it for anything you might use a CMS for - sell a product, make a portal, etc…

I was looking at some of the recently released plugins, particularly this stock data one and also something for media content - which adds a noembed section to any embedded content that does not already have one - very handy for people reading a site in an RSS reader.
It was the <noembed> tag which was the clue. read more »
